A poet can made hundreds of poetry; an artist can made hundreds of artworks; musician can made hundreds songs. What makes them able to do such things? What a remarkable skill they have.

No, not really. The poetry may not sound that great. The artwork may not seem that beautiful. And only some of the songs sound melodically awesome. But, they do create that hundreds of works.

It needs something more than skill to achieve what they achieve. Think of it like me, as a writer I may write a long post with thousands words without meaning. But what makes this post meaningful is an idea. There you go; the key is in that idea. Where do I get that idea?

Every person is unique, they had their own ideas. When I wrote about inspiration, I’d put all these ideas you read. But, when you wrote yours you might think something else. It’s like a thumb print that everyone had.

When I introduce you to this subject, you may already understand about inspiration. But some of us just can’t explain it in words. So let me explain inspiration from my point of view. Inspiration is like a voice around you giving you ideas about what you want to create or what problem you want to solve. It will comes to your mind and form a big balloon about ONE idea at first, like a bacteria it will split up into TWO, exponentially grow up to FOUR, and you form your work.

Where do I find it then?

First of all, inspiration is formed by our subconscious mind. For the sake of time, let’s act as if we all already know what subconscious mind is. Subconscious works in two ways: extremely panic situation and extremely calming situation. I’m dare to say that if you’re chased by lions and you’d ask to write a song lyrics you’d know what to write right away. In opposite situation, if you’re in extremely calming situation and that is when you’re walking on the beach, or lying down on your beautiful garden, or even showering on your bath, then you could have thousands of ideas.

Then why is it so hard to get and inspiration?

Because you’re not letting your subconscious to do the work! Like I said, it’s all in the subconscious. You’re not working alone, you had your super-mind to do the work and you always disturb it. Does it always have to be in extreme to extreme situations? Actually, not really. I had to give extreme example to get you super interested, but it works though.

How do I let this subconscious work?

It works just like when you Google about something. When you put a query and keep pushing the search button, what would happen? Right, it keeps loading! Now, what you should do is think about that keyword of yours, a problem, what you want to write about, what you want to sing, and then be relaxed. Enjoy the scenery, be in the moment and please do not re-think about “ugh, what should I write next…” Trust me it’ll flow like waterfall.

This may sounds too good to be true, right? But this mechanism isn’t written anywhere but the blueprint of your subconscious mind. Simple, yet hard to practice!

Lastly, if you want to keep that ideas to keep flowing, do not, I repeat, do not stop doing what you’re doing. I mean, when you finish do one artwork, poetry, writing, song, and then keep creating! Just like a muscle, your subconscious trained itself to be sharper in that area.

Happy creating!
Josua
