I thought sleeping and hypnosis are the same. In fact, trance is more like awakened state than normal sleep. Could a sleeping person accept a suggestion? That’s why I’d like to unfold my knowledge about this.

Reasoning

A person in hypnotic trance is capable of reasoning, although this could be planted by the hypnotist. In sleeping this function has been temporarily disabled.

Induction

Hypnosis is achieved by other individual, whereas the normal sleep is caused by the sleeping person itself.

Brain activity

In hypnosis, brain activity shows activities like normal person during waking. Whereas in sleeping the brain activity shows the opposite.

Somnambulism

People who walking in their sleep is actually the deepest form of subconscious and therefore should not be regarded as sleep activity.

Suggestions in a state of hypnosis

In hypnosis individuals are more vulnerable or easily influenced by suggestion. On the other hand, the subject will not respond or accept other light sensory stimulus or a different suggestion.

Muscle tone is generally and usually becomes less or flaccid muscle tone and decreases when the person acts in a normal sleep.

People could fall into a normal sleep after a long time of hypnosis sessions; this is actually a normal and natural phenomenon. Although there are moments that trance state can be referred to as sleep is not the same directory with the normal and physiological sleep at all.

Happy hypnosis!
